The opening of a children’s section at Liberty earlier this year made all stylish mums dance with joy. Faithful to its overall approach, the department store mixes hard to find labels (Maan, Rita co Rita, Gold, Kidscase, Imps&Elfs, etc), beautiful indie brands (Caramel Baby&Child, Miller, Isabelle Marant, Acne, etc), with a few big names (Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith, Chloe).  No logo dictatorship here, just a story of style, discrete elegance, love for wonderful materials and sophisticated colours.

Piero Fornasetti was a Milanese painter, sculptor, interior decorator, engraver of books and a creator of more than 11,000 products. Fornasetti is celebrated as being among the most original creative talents and one of the most productive of the twentieth century.

We have a piles of drawings by Iris (6), as she spends hours with crayons in hands, inventing the most extravagant and crazy stories. I am only showing the quiet scenes here but her universe is usually full of babies, dads, moms but also monsters, blood, people crying and shouting. I was sometimes tempted to worry, but I’ve heard this expression of fears and monstrosity is quite healthy .

What are mochilas ? If you have already spotted them in the press or in chic boutiques, you will surely have memorised their iconic shape and colourful patterns. These sought after cotton bags are hand woven in South America and they are all different from one another, which makes them even more special. 

Co-founder of Babyccino Kids, Courtney Adamo lives in London with her husband Michael and their three children, Easton (7), Quin (5) and Ivy (3). Courtney was raised on a tulip farm in a tiny town north of Seattle,  USA, she studied in Chicago then lived in LA. In 2003 her husband-to-be (also American, from Las Vegas) convinced her to follow him in London “just for a year”. Nine years later the Adamo, who have become British citizens, live in a beautiful house they bought and restored in Highgate (North London).

Kidults&Co is a colourful and happy line of fashion accessories from Barcelona. The designs are made by illustrators and graphic designers, and digitally printed on a 100% cotton fabric. The line, which is for adults and kids, is currently available in a selection of international stores including Arthus and Co (France), Mr Minouchet (Belgium), Little Feet (Taiwan).

Based in the UK, e-side is a green concept store for sustainable furniture and eco- luxury gifts. It was launched in December 2010 by founder Alessia Civettini and her partner Claudio Zerae-two Italians passionate about design. e- side promotes talented designers from all over the world such as Smiling Planet, Deuz, or Tian Tang, a young Chinese designer based in Sweden  who creates children design furniture which triggers play and inspire activities.

Anya is a beautiful, radiant child with a calm and caring nature. She loves being outdoors and playing with the kids of her neighbourhood. What new Little bean? The store founded by Christine Wisneau (creator of Small Magazine and  eponymous Little Bean children’s label) has been acquired in November 2011 by Bianca Colgin, a passionate designer in love with children’s fashion.  Bianca, with the help of Christine who still acts as a consultant, kept the majority of the lines, adding just a few names to the store assortment
