Playtime Paris is growing every year, attracting more brands, yet keeping its access restricted to a consistent selection of beautifully designed labels. This season the maternity section will be hosted in a separate room, leaving the full space for lots of returning collections as well as new ones. 

More than 13 billion pageviews on Tumblr every month…some online numbers are astronomical. This makes me wonder how many children’s online boutiques open every month in the world…300, 3000? Hard to say. Today I have selected three new e-stores worth visiting: Brooklyn Makers, Father and The Vitrine, and invited  their talented founders to speak about their business.

Chantal Kumar is the founder and designer of Chandamama, a sweet clothing line that will be at Playtime Paris in July. Chantal has a background in diplomacy; while working for the United Nations in New York she pursued a fashion education at Parsons School of Design.

Today I went through my pile of unread emails (more than a hundred product submissions). I can’t tell you how many times I read the phrase “We identified a big gap in the market”, or “When I had my baby I realised how little choice there was to dress him/her well, so I decided to create my own line”. The questions kept coming : “Really” ?

Their qualitative, innovative and sustainable products are sold in 55 countries around the world. 

During their learning age, children keep asking why, why why? Inspired by the children’s hunger for discovery, Spanish brand Yporqué launched a clothing line that aims at stimulating the five senses, through incorporation of fun shapes, sounds, textures, glow-in-the-dark images or games to their products. 

The exhibition Passage offers visions of artists exploring the boundary between childhood and adulthood,  brings together and compares different perspectives on the intermediate age of adolescence. 

With the current obsession about stars, glitter, pastels and everything Ziggy Stardust looking, Dandy Star has never been so popular. Good news for little fans of the brand: the tees, hooded sweats and accessories will be available at a pop up shop for a week –  Shoreditch Box Park 17-24th May.
