Here’s more about these two little girls who inspired the story :

They plan trips to do together and write down everything in their notebooks. They send postcards from faraway botanic gardens.

They collect seeds and grow wonderful plants.

Each spring they celebrate their birthday party: a Picnic in the backyard.
They draw lovely paper invitations; make sackcloth bonnets and flower’s crowns for their friends. They cut paper garlands and make lanterns.
They prepare paper favor bags closed with cotton ribbons and filled with amazing surprises.
They stamp tablecloths and serviettes with potato stamps.
They bake cupcakes and cakes decorated with drawings and little garlands.
They wear new dresses with incredible hand embroiders, but they never wear shoes.

They share amazing years and describe every single detail in their diaries, where they glue pieces of paper and stamps, make drawings and press flowers of each season.
