Carola Huidobro studied fashion design in Madrid and worked 16 years as accessories designer. Five years ago she launched Ropachica, a brand that targets girls aged 8 to 16. A interesting, growing segment with still only few players.

Carola, a mother of 3, decided to work for herself when she had her last child. She had collaborated with many brands (including an internship at Loewe after she graduated), specialising in leather and accessories. Her 5 year old daughter was the inspiration for the launch of Ropachica, and so the 5 last years have seen both the brand and the little girl growing nicely together.

Ropachica was showing at Playtime Paris last month and created a little buzz. The brand directly owns its little boutique in Madrid. The label is also sold in Thanks Mum and Corisco (Madrid),248 “two four eight” (Barcelona) as well as Amaia shop (London) , Isetan  (Tokyo), Kidding Kids& Tweens (Lebanon), Kizplanet (Korea), and other shops around the world (see the full list here).

What’s next? A  project with a Parisian investor, to open a shop in Paris…hopefully for AW 15-16.
