The Owl and Dog Playbooks are the first Pirouette One to Watch winners in the design category. We were already familiar with their books but it’s always so nice (important) to see a product in the flesh and let it grab your attention. We also took the time to speak with the designers Yeonju Yang and Claudio Ripol to talk about these beautiful books.
Playtime New York had over 180 labels exhibiting this time round and what a fun and exciting show it was. Arriving from Europe it was really interesting to meet labels from the US, South America and Canada. Once again there were many labels manufacturing in their country of origin with an emphasis on conscientious sourcing. A trend we keep seeing, if it carries on maybe it will just become the norm amongst independent brands!
Playtime Paris had over 500 labels exhibiting this time round so finding the Pirouette One to Watch winners took a bit of footwork, but boy was it worth it. It’s important to say how impressed we were with the brands in the ‘New Now’ space, the emerging talent in this section was really great to see with each label exhibiting their own unique selling points. It was a shame not to have more awards to give out.
There was so much emerging talent at Dot to Dot that it made our job of selecting The Ones to Watch very difficult but what a lovely day walking through the show talking with the exhibitors and looking through the collections. So many were producing at their country of origin (in this case mainly the UK), which is great to see.
