Rio : toys, magazines and kids

I was pretty impressed by a the store called Enfim Infant. Almost hidden on the third floor of Shopping da Gavea, a rather unattractive mall in Leblon, this little toy store has an amazing selection of wooden toys (almost all) made by Brazilian artisans. Puppets, reversible dolls, doll houses, trucks, all handmade in high quality standards, with nice finishes and vibrant colours.

Enchanted bestiary

Lou Rota was working as a TV producer on science and natural history documentaries and, in her spare time, she was customising vintage and salvaged objects, from plates to chairs, with her own distinctive modern take on the traditional art of decoupage. That’s how she started her business, now well established, sold at Liberty of Londonnotonthehighstreet.com, CaravanAnthropologie (anthropologie.com and anthropologie.eu) and Fleux in Paris. Lou’s distinctive tableware can now also be purchased direct from her newly launched website www.lourota.com.

Giving waste a second life

If you like recycled wood, you’ll love Alicuccio’s furniture and toys. The young Sicilian artist graduated in sculpture at the Academy of fine arts, Catania. For him the concept of waste doesn’t exist in nature. Everything can have a second life. Like his chairs made and assembled only with pieces and material he found in the streets of Turin where he lives.

Alicucio will be part of KidsXMASzoom, an event created by Paola Noe (KidsroomZOOM).
