Wendy is the winner for the 2012 MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program. Created by HWKN (Hollvich Kushner),  Wendy is composed of nylon fabric treated with a ground breaking titania nanoparticle spray to neutralize airborne pollutants. What does this mean in simpler terms? It means that the structure will clean the air to an equivalent of taking 260 cars off the road. Its spiky arms reach out with micro-programs like blasts of cool air, music, water canons and mists to create social zones throughout the courtyard. Exciting, isn’t it?

Another art/architectural reminder for those who will be in London : this year the Serpentine Gallery has commissioned Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei to design their Summer Pavillion.  Another must see, with the whole family…

The Pavilion has been purchased by Usha and Lakshmi N. Mittal and will enter their private collection after it closes to the public in October 2012.
