Lovi Oy is a family owned company based in Northern Finland that produces do-it-yourself wooden figures, designed and patented by Anne Paso. For each tree bought, a tree is planted. A great brand to keep in mind for ecological gift items.

New children’s brand Oyu Moyu created by Mongolian designer Oyuna Tserendorj and her three year old son. A delicious story with equally wonderful products that launched online in November 2013 and at Playtime Paris last month.

Designers Anne Kieffer and Arnaud Mouriamé have a passion for wood, and for creating original and simple objects. In 2012 they launched Studio delle Alpi. Their amusing and eco-responsible collection, dedicated to the world of children, caught my eye.
If you love the feel and smell of birch, oak and pine, have a look at what design brand Orée makes. L’Orée in French is the entrance of the forest and the company has declined a great range of tech wooden gadgets with a clean style and lots of appeal.

This edition of Playtime run simultaneously with Maison&Objet (and the various adults shows), transforming Paris in a very lively-buzzing-multicultural city. It might have been quite a stretch for people who were exhibiting at both fairs, but it seems it had a positive impact on Playtime.

Last year Bubble London, the UK trade show for children’s fashion and accessories, launched “The Rising Star” competition, to recognise new talents and innovative product. Portuguese brand Wolf & Rita, was the lucky winner. This season’s 12 finalists will be short listed at the show 26 – 27 January 2014.
