It’s wonderful to see French concept-store Smallable and Japanese department store Isetan join forces to promote the best of Japanese and European children’s fashion. Starting March the 14th and running until April the 4th, 2018 Isetan will welcome a Smallable pop-up shop in its department store, while Smallable will host Isetan and Japanese fashion know-how in both its Parisian boutique and on-line store. I love a foreign exchange trip, so is this sort of collaboration the future for retail? What will we find at each store?

It was big news from luxury Italian label Gucci last month when they announced their plan to stop using fur from 2018. It may be almost 30 years since PETA started campaigning against the use of fur in fashion but according to animal welfare campaigners, this is a huge ‘game changer’ in the fashion industry.
Of late we have seen a growing trend of exciting and elaborate faux fur outerwear in kid’s fashion from both the smaller and larger labels. So in light of this decision from the luxury giant of the fashion industry to commit to faux fur in the future we have compiled our favourite #CoupeDeCoeur Faux Fur pieces currently on the market for Aw17. In the process, we also find out why Gucci has made this historic move now.
The Animals Observatory burst on to the scene last year surrounded with the sort of excitement and buzz reserved for rumours of a Kate Bush comeback. This is of course in large part due to the high regard the industry has for founder and creative director Laia Aguilar. We talk to Laia about her inspiration, life, super powers and the children’s fashion industry in a bid to discover a bit more about this curious mind.
Amongst the present madness in the world and the hectic Aw17 shows we take time to stop, take a breath of fresh air and remember what it’s all about. Please enjoy watching this beautiful escape of a fashion film directed by the creative director of The Animals Observatory, Laia Aguilar …if only we could all be good animals.
