Today on Pirouette I’m talking with ‘the’ pioneer in sustainable and ethical kidswear, founder of Mini Rodini Cassandra Rhodin. Launched in 2006 Cassandra’s colourful designs are loved throughout the world by both parents and children. In fact in Sweden they are the second most resold kidswear label on Ebay with their pieces keeping a strong resale value.
A huge fan of both Mini Rodini and Björn Borg we chat headbands and their latest collab.
FILA x MINI RODINI
A SWEDISH MINI RODINI TAKE ON THE HERITAGE OF FILA AND THE SPORTY ITALIAN STYLE
Mini Rodini and FILA partnered for a stylish sporty lifestyle collection made in 100% better materials – recycled polyester, organic cotton & 100% vegan sneakers, for the spring summer 2023 season.
FILA x Mini Rodini is a hybrid take on the two brands from Mini Rodini Founder and Creative Director Cassandra Rhodin’s perspective. Cassandra Rhodin says
This is a sport inspired collection for casual life.
When preparing for the design process Cassandra visited the archives in FILA’s birth city of Biella in Italy. She got to dig deep into the history and archives of this iconic sports and lifestyle brand.
I left there amazed by these great athletes that with hard work and passion, all dressed in FILA sportswear, pushed boundaries for what is possible to achieve. That really struck a chord with me
As a Swede, the old images of tennis legend Björn Borg, and his fantastic FILA styles of the 70’s were really inspiring. When designing the collection she had these images in mind.
FILA is such a classic brand to me. I’m thinking Björn Borg, Wes Anderson and 90’s Chloe Sevigny. That’s the feeling I wanted to transfer to the collection. A mix of cool, my Swedish take on Italian sporty, rabbits of course and the love for the 70’s style of the tennis legend Björn Borg
Mini Rodini is dedicated to better production and for this collab Mini Rodini helped push FILA to make its most sustainable collection yet. It consists of sporty styles of sweatshirts, sweat pants, track suits, shoes, socks, sweatband and a rucksack, inspired by FILA 70’s looks in bold modern colours adorned with Mini Rodini prints. The collection is made in 100 % better materials – such as recycled polyester, organic cotton – and 100% vegan sneakers. Shop the collection at minirodini.com
