Clothes manufacturing in Portugal
Part 2 of 3 kids fashion production in Portugal
Pureté is baby wear with a soft mix of fresh and classic. They’ve recently finished their new showroom and office which again has the most beautiful of views. Even though they have a large manufacturing line with clients such as Baby Dior they remain a family business. And so it was we had our meeting and subsequent tour of the factory with Pedro the father and Pedro the son, both warm, friendly, passionate about their business and open to conversation.
We all look through the collections, Chiara from Style Piccoli interviews to camera… whilst Petra and I try to stay quiet. The two Pedros are excited for the forth coming show period having already shown at Pitti Bimbo this Portuguese label will be participating for the first time at Playtime Paris, at the 2020 January edition.
I’ve said before {many times} I’m originally from Glasgow and where it turns out they have two stockists, both luxury boutiques located in the nicer areas of Glasgow unsurprisingly.
We are then led out a back door and upstairs to the production line – all fully animated. Whilst looking down the pressing line Marlene (from Moda Portugal) explains that this manufacturer press folds on the seams before stitching. This process has been specifically developed by them to create a super fabulous seam. I must admit at this point I love getting into the these kind of details of the production, and certainly the pressing prior to sewing produces an excellent quality finish.
What’s interesting is the difference in the pattern cutting from Wolf & Rita’s one man hand machining to here at Pureté where they use a large laser pattern cutter. This prompts me to ask what their minimums are for white label producing and I’m amazed to hear ‘no minimums’ so they are open to discussion… good to know I reckon!
