New York based label lulaland was our first One to Watch winner in the fashion catagory at Playtime Paris. This fun mixmatching collection drew us in for a further look, different textures, whimsical prints and rich colouring makes for a bold beautiful collection and whatever the combination it will work. The aztec pineapple print was a favorite from the collection, Lula designs the prints herself and has them printed to organic cotton fabric. This is a rich and fun label, certainly One to Watch, let’s find out more.

Your background ? I’ve done so many things!! I studied marketing, graphic design, business administration, interior design. I’ve worked as a stylist (fashion and interiors) in Argentina (Elle and others) till I moved to NY in 2008, where I worked as a still life stylist, interiors and party stylist. Later in 2012 I opened a children’s store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (Allegria boutique) where lulaland was born 3 years ago! (we closed the shop in july 2015) but my love for art, fabrics and textures comes from both my grandmothers!
Children’s fashion should be… always comfortable and a creative outlet, an invitation to play.
Where do you find the inspiration for your prints ? In nature and everyday visuals, in magazines, online, in art, on the streets, I find inspiration everywhere!
References per collection ? between 50 to 70 depending on the season.
Main materials ? soft cottons, lots of them organics (since 3 seasons ago), textures are very important for the brand so other materials are also always present in the collections, giving priority to natural ones.
In how many countries can you find lulaland ? USA, Japan, France, China, Lithuania, UK, Canada. Fall 17 we will be available also in Italy, Switzerland, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan.
How do you find manufacturing in India ? I love India! We manufacture there because India has the most beautiful fabrics, colors and the artisanal feel is part of it’s authenticity, all key ingredients of our brand.
lulaland in the future ? When lulaland grows up, it wants to be a lifestyle brand! little by little, we are adding other categories to it, like accessories and home decor…
Trade shows for SS18 ? Playtime Paris, Playtime Berlin, Playtime New York, Playtime Tokyo, LA market, San Francisco market, Playologie

lulaland
Each season, lulaland creates a whimsical and comfortable collection full of mismatching textures and colors, for boys & girls, 3m to 10y.
We design our own prints, and we carefully hand pick our fabrics, many of them 100% certified organic cottons, to make every collection authentic…Our clothes are timeless and designed to be worn through seasons (we love layering!), allowing our kids to grow in them!
With a design studio in Greenpoint (Brooklyn, NY), our main manufacturing house in our beloved India, and inspiration from all over the world, our clothes are an eclectic mix of romantic European and authentic folkloric spirits,
We believe that pink and blue and flowers are both for boys or girls, because we know kids love it all! Let’s allow them create themselves, let them choose their own colors…
lulaland is for the authentic, the trendsetters, the little free spirits of the global village!
