Katia Graeff had the great idea to transpose children’s drawings into cushions. “il était 1x une étoile“ is the label she created, to allow decorating the house while keeping track of our little one’s beautiful creations.
“The story of my childhood is closely related to this project and that’s why i want transpose children’s drawings in an aesthetic and trans-generational dimension. I have no tracks of my drawings, my parents have not kept.
The idea made perfect sense at the birth of my daughter and I wanted to bring this snapshot from child imagination to reality” says Katia.
With “il était 1x une étoile”, each single doodle becomes a potential decorative souvenir or lovely gift, full of emotion and tenderness. Each cushion is a unique piece, entirely handmade in France and with LOVE by Katia herself.
She tries to select fabrics and materials and makes a point of honor to work with suppliers who are in full compliance with corporate social responsibility. The shapes and contours of the drawing are sewn and embroidered in black or colour thread, to bring structure and a graphic touch. Katia also adds fabrics and ribbon to enrich the whole.
For this first collection, the drawings are from the series “Animal” and “man tadpole”, based on the original child’s drawing, reproduced as faithfully as possible. The outshell is made of 100% raw cotton fabric. The cushions are easy-care by hand or machine wash, delicate program 30 ° C (86°F) with a gentle spin drying, flat drying and ironing on medium heat. The padding is 100% polyester fiber.
Absolutely lovely, isn’t it?
