So The Nest is a bit tricky to locate but well worth seeing the brands nestled in the lower level of the Padiglione Centrale at Pitti Bimbo you will find a little oasis of select independent labels. The friendly and inviting space is curated by the lovely Dimitra Zavakou founder of Little Pop Up, Berlin.
Dimitra Zavakou “- we wanted to favor the heart: we wanted every label, every artisan, or every designer involved to stand out for the passion and love they put into their jobs. Thus, The Nest was conceived: brands with unique stories, of great humanity, in an extremely energetic atmosphere, with products that stand out for the utmost quality of the materials used and for the innovative design. Authentic productions, which are beginning to gain international recognition for their great creativity”.
We found the Nest with limited time on the clock so unfortunately we didn’t get to talk with all the brands but the quality of design and product really captured our attention.
The maternity line and diaper bags by Mara Mea are really beautiful and designed to last pregnancy and long after. The new colour line for Aw17 by Carlota Barnabe is rich and strong with a lovely versatile reversible jacket. Garbo & Friends have the most adorable wooden teether complete with leather ears, rabbit & mouse, very sweet. Poupee from Greece launch their new wholesale collection for Aw17, it’s fantastic fun allowing the child to choose from 3 different shirt collars or on another piece mix and match different panels with zips.
There is one more day of Pitti Bimbo and this hidden gem is well worth a visit but if you can’t make it you can check out the exhibitors from the links below.
